Joseph Kerrigan Jr. Obituary

Joseph "Mark" Kerrigan, Jr., a beloved resident of Hazen, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the age of 74. He left this world to spend Valentine's Day with his beloved soulmate, Debby, who preceded him in death. He was born on August 9, 1949, in Braddock, PA. Mark was the son of the late Joseph and Margret Kerrigan. He graduated from Norwin High School before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he showcased his exceptional skills in rifles and targets. He bravely served his country in Vietnam, although he never spoke of the heroics, he undoubtedly displayed during his time there.

In his personal life, Mark married the love of his life, Debby Kerrigan, and their union was filled with love and devotion for over forty-five years. Mark always took pleasure in spoiling his wife and ensuring her happiness.

During his younger years, Mark pursued his passion for mechanics and race car driving. He found immense joy in racing his Nova at Keystone Speedway and anywhere else someone had a pink slip.

Later, he worked as a mechanic, and eventually retired from the United States Postal Service. Mark made a bold move from Pittsburgh to Hazen, PA, surprising everyone around him. In Hazen, he found new passions such as farming, tending to animals, and making things work. Mark possessed an incredible talent for fixing anything that was broken and loved engaging in discussions about politics and guns.

Surviving family to cherish his memory are his son; Scott (Jen) Kerrigan; his daughter Jennie (Scott) Fitzgerald; and his five beloved grandchildren; Mackenzie (Garrett) Shaffer, Mark Fitzgerald, Patrick Kerrigan, Anna and Matthew Murphy. He also leaves behind his three great grandchildren; Logan, Brynlee, and Wren Shaffer. Mark is also survived by his two siblings; Sharon (Tom) Farino, and Janet (Peter) Kocioek.

In addition to his parents, Mark was tragically preceded in death by his loving wife Deborah Kerrigan, and his first son, David M. Kerrigan.

Joseph "Mark" Kerrigan, Jr. will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His selflessness, bravery, and ability to find joy in the simplest things will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.
