Mary Grant Obituary

Mary Ann (Weir) Grant, age 76, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at her home in Brookville, PA. She was born on July 8, 1947, in DuBois, PA, to the late Herbert G. and Margaret E. (Maloney) Weir.

She attended the DuBois Central Catholic School in DuBois, PA. Mary Ann married the love of her life, Donald Grant, on March 2, 1961, in DuBois, PA; he survives. They were blessed to spend over sixty-two loving years together growing a family and making lifetime memories.

Mary Ann was employed at Owens Illinois, Mike’s Comet and a beauty salon in Brookville, PA. Her true passion came from working at a daycare, where she helped care for children until her retirement.

Mary Ann had many pastime activities throughout her life. She especially loved cooking and baking a variety of different baked goods. She was a master grower of indoor house plants and loved animals, especially cats. Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished the memories she made with them and was proud to be a part of each of their lives. She was essential in raising her grandkids, always supporting them in their accomplishments. Above all, time spent with her husband and family was what she loved the most. Mary Ann just loved to have fun! She cared deeply for the people around her and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her husband Donald, Mary Ann is survived by two sons; Donald J. Grant, and Daniel T. Grant both of Brookville, PA; three grandchildren; Derek D. (Carolin) Grant of Buckingham, U.K., Megan E. (Corey) Grant of Indiana, PA, and Jenna M. Grant of Brookville, PA; five sisters; Patricia E. Hilliard of DuBois, PA, Margaret “Peg” L. (Bud) Ellis of Home Camp, PA, Jean A. Foster of Franklin, PA, Joan M. (Ed) Galluzzi of DuBois, PA, and Rhonda C. (Pat) Flanders of DuBois, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by one brother; Robert J. Weir of DuBois, PA; one daughter-in-law; Beth Grant of Brookville, PA; and one sister-in-law; Carol Grant of FL.

Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Monday, November 20, 2023, from 4 – 7 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on November 20, 2023, following the visitation beginning at 7:00 pm, also at the funeral home, and officiated by Preacher Randall Matheny.

Interment will be private at the Temple Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson County, PA.
