Annabelle Marie (Rupp) Thrush, age 98, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Annabelle was born December 11, 1925, the daughter of the late William and Anna Belle (Schreckengost) Rupp. Ann was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Thrush was born and raised near Dayton, PA. She married Darl C. Thrush on September 18, 1948. Ann held various jobs including nanny, server for restaurants and the Pinecrest Country Club, and a beloved elementary school teacher’s aide in the Brookville Area School District before retiring after forty-three years of dedicated service. Ann was a faithful member of the Zion Methodist Church where she was active in Sunday school, the United Methodist Women, a song leader, bible school teacher, and secretary for various groups.
Faith, family, and friends were an important part of Ann’s life. She was the secretary for both her family and Darl’s family, keeping meticulous records of family weddings, births, deaths, and reunions. Ann was known for making beautiful cakes for weddings, as well as social and family functions. Above all, she will be fondly remembered by the many people whose lives she has touched.
Ann was blessed with a loving family and will be deeply missed by her son; Timothy Thrush and wife Diana of Brookville, PA; her daughter Cynthia Bartz and husband William of Colfax, NC; eight grandchildren; Cody Thrush, Kyle (Renee) Thrush, Tonia Bartz and partner Christopher, William (Alexandra) Bartz, Julia (Chris) Harris, Madelyn (Justin) Rini, Angela (Dillon) Callahan, and Charles Bartz; five step grandchildren; Brent Orr, Misty Adams, Jeremy Stewart, Darrick Stewart, and Nicole Guthrie; twelve great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents, her husband Darl who passed May 16, 1966, and an infant daughter, Linda; Ann was preceded in death by her five brothers; Adam, Woodrow, Benjamin, Waid, and Cleo Rupp; five sisters; Catherine Galbraith, Lottie Olinger, Violet Umbaugh, Ida Bussard, and Verda Rupp.
Interment will take place privately at the Zion Cemetery, Brookville, PA. A memorial service to honor Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Zion Community Methodist Church, 1778 Route 36, Brookville, PA 15825. Memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s honor to The American Heart Association or Zion Community Methodist Church, 1778 Route 36, Brookville, PA 15825.
