Betty Jean Hays, 79, of Brookville, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.  She was born in Meadville, PA, on April 13, 1943, to the late Ernest S. and Eva Jean (Dias) Geer. On March 13, 1960, Betty married Jack Lee Hays in Stanton, PA, who survives. They were together for over sixty-two loving years.

Betty attended the Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA. She was a Sunday School teacher to countless young people over the years. She also provided childcare in her home for many years to so many different children. Above all, Betty was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends. Animals always had a special place in her heart, especially dogs.  She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who meant the world to her. 

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by three sons, Jack L. (Cindy) Hays, Scott (Laurie) Hays, and James (Becky) Hays all of Brookville, PA; four grandchildren, Kirk (Resa) Hays, Jamie (Andrew) Williamson, Morgan (Grant) Dull and Tyler Hays; three great-grandchildren, Wade and Tate Williamson, and Huck Hays; two sisters, Linda Shaffer, and Brenda Geer; and two brothers, Robert Geer, and Delbert Geer.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by one sister, Connie Anderson; and two brothers, Kenneth Geer and Earnest Geer.

At the wishes of the family all services will be held privately and have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Road, Brookville, PA 15825. Interment will take place privately at St. John’s (Windy Hill) Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson County, PA.
