Catherine M. (Izzi) Swartz, age 88, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. She was born on April 1, 1936, in New Bethlehem, PA, to the late Michael and Irene (Carvillano) Izzi. Catherine graduated from New Bethlehem High School in New Bethlehem, PA.

Catherine married the love of her life, Charles Edward Swartz on September 25, 1959. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2003. They would have celebrated their forty-fourth wedding anniversary, graced with numerous blessings.

Catherine was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA. She worked as a line machine operator at Owens Illinois in Brookville, PA, until her retirement.

Catherine’s life was marked by a diverse range of interests. In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed creating crafts and tending to her garden.  She especially valued family gatherings and created cherished memories with her husband and children. They had a fulfilling life together, and she dearly loved her family. Catherine’s kindness and devotion to those she loved touched everyone she met. Her family and friends will deeply miss Catherine.

Catherine is survived by three children; daughter Stacey (Charles) Trent of Virginia Beach, VA, son Fred Swartz of Brookville, PA, and stepson Chuck (Kim) Swartz of Snellville, GA; three grandchildren; Charlie, Ryan, and Katie; five great-grandchildren; one sister; Lucille Sauders of Norristown, PA; two sisters-in-law; Carol (Bill) Lyons, and Yong Fen Izzi; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Ed, Catherine was preceded in death by five brothers; Andrew, Clarence, Bert, Arthur, and Joe Izzi and three sisters; Teresa, Mary, and JoAn.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA, beginning at 10:00 am, and officiated by Father William Laska. 

Interment will take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
