Charles D. "Charlie" Haugh Obituary

Charles D. “Charlie” Haugh, age 75, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital, Brookville, PA. Charlie was born in Brookville, PA, on January 7,1949, to the late Harold Leon and Sara Florence (Winters) Haugh.


Charlie graduated in 1969 from Brookville High School in Brookville, PA. He worked for various auto dealerships in Brookville, PA, including LaQue Auto, Shaffer Buick, Straitiff Auto, and Brookville Chevy, as an Auto Body Mechanic until his retirement in 2014.


Charlie married his beloved Roberta (Plyler) Haugh at the Immaculate Conception Church, in Brookville, PA. She preceded him in death in 2009. He was fortunate to discover love again and married Mary Lea (Hallstrom) Haugh, on May 14, 2011. Their marriage brought them immense happiness and dedication for over twelve years. She preceded him in death in November 2023.


Charlie was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA until 2005, and then became a member of the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church in Brookville, PA. His dedicated faith sustained him throughout his life.


Charlie was a member of the John W. Jenks – Hobah Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Punxsutawney, PA, the Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and the National Hot Rod Association. He loved working around his home and was known for being meticulous with completing projects. Restoring old muscle cars and participating in car shows were among his favorite hobbies. Street Rod Magazine featured and published an article about his custom car. Charlie frequently won awards for his muscle cars at various festivals and especially enjoyed participating in car shows in Carlisle and York, PA. He valued most the moments with his family and friends, and he will be dearly missed.


Charlie is survived by two sisters; Shirley Ann Haugh of New Hampshire, and Eleanor Czajkouski of Brookville, PA; one nephew; Randy (Beth) Campbell of Brookville, PA; one niece; Sara (Jim) Gow of Brookville, PA, and his dearest friends; Steve and Emma Reed of Brookville, PA, who had the honor to care for him as his home health nurse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews across the country.  


In addition to his parents and two wives, Charlie is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.


Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm, with a Masonic Service beginning at 7:00 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, beginning at 11:00 am at the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA, and officiated by Reverend Loren McQueen.


Interment will take place privately by the funeral home at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Any of Charlie’s “car friends” who would like to drive their old antique and classic cars through the procession to the cemetery may meet at the Brookville Evangelical Methodist Church following the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
