Dean Howard Hetrick, age 64, of Ohl, PA, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dean was born on February 8, 1960, in Brookville, PA, to the late Paul and Lois (Brosius) Hetrick.
Dean was a 1978 graduate of Brookville High School in Brookville, PA and Jeff Tech Vocational School in Reynoldsville, PA.
Dean worked for Straitiff Auto Body and later the Brookville Area School District in Brookville, PA, as a Grounds Maintenance Worker for over eighteen years before retiring in 2003.
On September 4, 1992, in Brookville, PA, Dean married his true love, Dianne E. (Knapp) Hetrick; she survives. For over thirty-one years, their marriage was a testament to their deep love, devotion, and enduring faith.
Dean was a member of the Summerville Methodist Church, and a member of the Summerville Volunteer Fire Department, both in Summerville, PA.
Dean was a recipient of three kidney transplants. His unwavering faith sustained him through his various health struggles. He devoted countless years to volunteering and advocating for the CORE nonprofit organization and its mission.
Dean enjoyed a variety of hobbies that included working outside, gardening so he could give away his harvest to friends or family, golfing, and softball. He also helped organize fundraisers (tons of chicken BBQs) and events like the Ohl Community Days. Dean’s caring nature and selflessness allowed him to generously donate his time to those in need.
Dean dearly cherished his family moments as precious lifetime keepsakes. Above all, his family and friends were his greatest treasure. His absence will be deeply felt by everyone who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Dianne, Dean is survived by one son; David (Jamie) Hetrick of Summerville, PA; two step-children; Mike (Megan) Hammer of Middletown, Ohio and Becky (Jason) Allshouse of Bethel Park, PA; six grandchildren; Alexander and Penelope Hetrick, Logan and Parker Hammer and Claire and Connor Allshouse; one sister; Joan (Ron) Alderton of Brookville, PA; his beloved dog Charlie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his twin brother; David Hetrick, one other brother; Denny Hetrick; and one sister-in-law; Christine Hetrick.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A second viewing will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 9:30 – 10:30 am, also at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place following the second viewing, beginning at 11:00 am, and officiated by Pastor Raymond Glenn Brosius, Jr.
Interment will take place privately at the Ohl Cemetery in Beaver Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
