Don L. Zeigler, age 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2023, at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. He was born on July 30, 1930, to the late Walter A. and Florence (Lowers) Zeigler in Brookville, PA. He graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1948. Don went on to proudly serve in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
Don married the love of his life, Sara C. (Silvis) Zeigler on September 3, 1960, at the Lutheran Church Parsonage in Smicksburg, PA; she survives. They spent over sixty-two loving years together. He was a truck driver and lowboy operator for Preston in Brookville, PA, and then worked at Bracken Construction in Sligo, PA.
He attended the Grace Lutheran Church in Brookville, PA and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, which is dedicated to conserving elk and the hunting heritage. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing and loved hunting, especially for elk, deer, and bear. He took special care of his property and lawn in the summertime. Don was known in the neighborhood to always plow snow, keeping Sarvey Lane clear during the winter. Above all, spending time with his wife and family is what he enjoyed the most.
In addition to his loving wife Sara, Don is survived by two daughters; Sharon Kay Snyder of Brookville, PA, and Molly Ann Zeigler (Karen Whitt) of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons; Thomas Lee Snyder (Lyndsey Foringer) of Knox Dale, PA, and Donnie Allen (Kelsey) Snyder of Mayport, PA; one great-grandson; Hunter Kenneth Snyder; and one sister; Laura Belle Shaffer of Brookville, PA.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by one sister; JoAnn Clayton.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A second viewing will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 9 – 11 am, also at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, after the second viewing, beginning at 11:00 am, and officiated by Reverend Joe Short. Military Honors will be conducted by the Brookville Honor Guard following the service, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place privately by the funeral home at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
