Donald “Don” L. Grant, age 84, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville, PA. Don was born in Hazen, PA, on January 31, 1942, to the late James E. Grant and Bertha (Vandervort) Grant.
Don attended Brookville High School in Brookville, PA.
Don worked in auto parts for Red Curry-Wholesale Auto Parts and later NAPA, as well as owning Top Notch Auto Parts Store, all based in Brookville, PA, before retiring.
Don married his true love Mary Ann (Weir) Grant on March 2, 1961, in DuBois, PA. She preceded him in death in November of 2023. The couple’s sixty-two-year marriage was marked by a lifelong commitment of love and devotion to one another.
Don was a lifelong enthusiast of cars and Harleys, with a particular passion for hot rods, a love for cruising in cars, and attending muscle car shows. He looked forward to going to Roger’s Ohio Flea Market and the Canfield Ohio car parts swap meet. Don also enjoyed activities such as flying remote-control airplanes, mowing the lawn, planting flowers, painting, baking, doing word searches, and sitting on the porch with his family. Don had a special affection for animals, particularly his beloved grand dog, Sammy.
Don was devoted to his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He treasured the times they spent together, making new memories year after year. His grandchildren were the lights of his life and held a special place in his heart. He was proud of his grandson Derek, and all of his travels around the world, and he always had pictures to share. Don was a pillar of strength who continued to love and guide his family throughout their lives. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Don is survived by two sons; Donald J. Grant, and Daniel T. Grant both of Brookville, PA; three grandchildren; Derek D. (Carolin) Grant of Buckingham, U.K., Megan E. (Corey) Grant of Indiana, PA, and Jenna M. Grant of Brookville, PA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
In addition to his parents and wife Mary Ann, Don was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters; and one daughter-in-law; Beth Grant of Brookville, PA.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 4 – 7 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held following the viewing, also at the Carrier Funeral Home beginning at 7:00 pm, and officiated by Pastor Joe Short.
Interment will take place privately at the Temple Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson County, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
