Gilbert “Gil” V. Brant, age 90, of Greenville, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Brookville Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville, PA. He was born on February 28, 1933 in Youngstown, OH, to the late Victor Vernon and Susan (Gasper) Brant. He attended Hickory High School in Hermitage, PA. Gil proudly served in the United States Army, ranked Corporal, from 1953 until 1955 during the Korean War.
On July 20, 1957, Gil married his loving soulmate, Marilyn (Artman) Brant in Sharon, PA, she survives. He worked for Graef Windows in Youngtown, OH, and then Damascus Tube, where he retired in Greenville, PA. Gil was a dedicated hardworking man his entire life.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Hermitage, PA, and the Reynolds VFW in Reynolds, PA. Gil was an avid golfer throughout his life. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, always working on some project. He was a man of many talents who could fix and find the solution to any problem. Gil loved time with his family and cherished the moments he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, his wife and family meant everything to him.
In addition to his beloved wife Marilyn, Gil is survived by three children; James (Susan) Brant of Brookville, PA, Brenda Moore of Bend, OR, and Robert (Judy) Brant of Moon Twp., PA; six grandchildren; Natasha (Jonathan) Houston, Kristen (Kurt) Mennitti, Lindsey Zimmerman (Brant), Jenna (Jeff) Mack, Ryan Brant, and Kyle Brant; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Gil is preceded in death by one brother; Herman Brant; and one son-in-law; Daniel Moore. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
All funeral services were held privately by the family and have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA. Interment will take place privately at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Twp., Mercer County, PA.
