James A. Knapp

James Andrew “Andy” Knapp, age 64, of Corsica, PA, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2023, at the Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. On December 29, 1958, he was born in Brookville, PA, the eldest of six brothers, to the late Doyle C. and Patricia A. (McKernan) Knapp. Andy attended Brookville Area High School until graduating with the class of 1977.  

After graduating, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Andy was distinguished when entering the military because he had achieved the rank of Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America. He spent his life serving our nation, doing various jobs across different places all over the world. Andy received many different awards over the years and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in 1998. After retiring from the military, he moved home and worked for the Jefferson County Jail until retiring in 2019. Exploring all the places his career took him was something he greatly enjoyed. He loved model trains and was involved with the Clarion County Model Railroad Club. He enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting.  

Andy is survived by five brothers; Brian (Linda) Knapp of Corsica, PA, Paul Knapp of Corsica, PA, Tim (Eileen) Knapp of Chalk Hill, PA, Dennis Knapp of Corsica, PA, Matt (Lisa) Knapp of Leeper, PA; nieces and nephews; Jessica (Seth) Enterline; Tony (Jessica) Knapp; Amanda Knapp, and Samuel Knapp; great-nieces and great-nephews; Aubrey, Haley, and Tyler Enterline, and Bridger Knapp; two aunts; Barbara Flickinger and Alberta Bish; as well as numerous cousins and friends.  

Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 1 – 5 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Friday, August 11, 2023, following the viewing beginning at 5:00 pm, and officiated by Pastor Joe Short of the Brookville First Methodist Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Brookville Honor Guard following the service. Interment will take place privately by the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Andy’s name to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, 900 S Arlington Avenue #134a, Harrisburg, PA 17109.
