Janet L. (Brown) Elkin, age 86, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Janet was born in Indiana PA, on June 10, 1939, to the late David and LuLu (Helman) Brown.

Janet attended Dayton High School in Dayton, PA.

Janet married her true love, Boyd Elkin, on June 7, 1958, at the Glade Run Church in Dayton, PA. The couple was blessed with over sixty-three years of marriage built on love and commitment to one another. Boyd preceded her in death in 2021.

Janet was a member of the Porter United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney, PA and also served as a member of the Ladies Aid. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and working with ceramics.

As a devoted homemaker, Janet took immense pride in her household, dedicating herself to raising her children and caring for her family. Throughout her life, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Janet will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Janet is survived by six children; John (Pamela) Elkin of Brookville, PA, Darrell Elkin of New Bethlehem, PA, Janice (Barry) Bish of Mayport, PA, Janet Brocious (her companion, Lewis) of New Bethlehem, PA, Wendell Elkin (his companion, Lisa) of Rossiter, PA, and Brenda (Sean) Weinberg of South Beloit, IL; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one brother; Leonard Brown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband Boyd, Janet was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law; Danise Elkin; one son-in-law; Chuck Brocious; two siblings; Eleanor Lockhard, and Arlene Neal.

In accordance with Janet’s and her family’s wishes, all services will be held privately.

Interment will also take place privately at the Zion Cemetery, Porter Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
