Jennie E. (Hough) Sloan, 93, of Leeper, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. She was born in Rebersburg, PA, on November 15, 1929, to the late Raymond Charles and Hazel (Clinton) Hough. Jennie graduated from high school and went on to complete a two-year trade school program. On November 26, 1960, in a Lutheran Church in Madisonburg, PA, she married the love of her life, Francis A. Sloan, who preceded her in passing. They were blessed with the family and life they created together.
She was a secretary for the state of Pennsylvania for many years in Harrisburg, PA., as well as a nurse's aide, and a homemaker. Jennie grew up in her Christian faith as Lutheran, and belonged to the Daughters of Hebrew, but then went to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She also served as the secretary for the Hebrew Lutheran Church of Blairsville for many years.
Jennie loved to read throughout her life, especially the scriptures. She showed her dedicated faith by going to the Kingdom Hall and hearing about Jehovah. Some of her favorite pastimes included sitting on the porch watching all the birds and squirrels, talking on the phone with friends and relatives, but her favorite was traveling to different places. She had a soft spot in her heart for animals, always asking about Jack and A.J. her pet dogs, and just loved arguing with the parrot, Sierra.
Jennie is survived by two daughters, Suzi R. (Mike) Collins of Leeper, PA, and Jennie L. (Robert) McGinnis of Blairsville, PA; three grandchildren, Krystal R. Spicer, Devon Kuzemczak, and Sierra Kuzemczak; four great grandchildren; Hunter Spicer, Korbyn Kuzemczak, Skylnn Rayne, and Autumn Kuzemczak.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Jennie is preceded in death by her five brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter; Ashton Kuzemczak; and one grandson; Timothy Earhart. Jennie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
