Jerry B. Fitzsimmons, age 73, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. Jerry was born in Brookville, PA, on April 17, 1952, to the late Robert H. and Edith (Park) Fitzsimmons.

Jerry graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville, PA with the class of 1970. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Clarion University in Clarion, PA.

Jerry worked as a machine operator at Brockway Glass in Brockway, PA, until his retirement in 2009.

Throughout his lifetime, Jerry was always centered around sports. Playing football was his number one passion, and in 1969, he was named to an All-Conference team in high school. He played softball for many years on various teams; including the ESSO Tigers, Crooks, and Ti-Brook. Jerry was an avid sports fan especially for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pittsburgh Panthers.

Jerry’s dedication to football continued with the Brookville Raider Football team, and he participated in the original idea to start the Quarterback Club, serving as its treasurer. He was totally dedicated to assisting and supporting the high school football team.

Jerry dearly loved his daughter and grandchildren, and his greatest joy was being a part of their lives as they created new memories together. Jerry's life was filled with family, friendship, and a strong sense of community, and his absence will be deeply felt in the place he called home.  

Jerry is survived by one daughter; Kelli (Evan) Bookbinder of Moon Twp., PA; two grandchildren; Jacob Bookbinder of Moon Twp., PA, and Elissa Bookbinder of Moon Twp., PA; one sister; Ruthan (Russell) Beaumont of Brookville, PA; as well as one niece, and one nephew. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 6, 2026 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held following the viewing, also at the Carrier Funeral Home beginning at 7:00 pm and officiated by Pastor Glenn McQuown.

In memory of Jerry, the family welcomes Brookville Raider Football or Pittsburgh sports attire as a reflection of his lifelong passion for sports.

Interment will take place privately at the Temple Cemetery in Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
