Jerry Jay Paden

Jerry Jay Paden, age 69, of Brookville, PA, died suddenly at home, on June 6, 2023. Jerry was born on April 18, 1954, in New Brighton, PA, to the late Verne and Olive Jean (Frishkorn) Paden. The oldest of two, he grew up in New Brighton, and later went on to attend Penn State University where he majored in Journalism. It was there that he made his lifelong friends who he saw annually at the Arts Festival. Jerry met the love of his life, Judi Keefer, where they married in her family’s orchard on June 25, 1983, she survives.

He was able to work in many different fields over his lifetime and enjoyed the lessons he learned from each place. He was a jack of many different trades. He found great joy in living a varied and full life. One of his greatest pastimes was photography where he enjoyed expressing himself behind the lens and sharing his unique view of the world. He also enjoyed fishing and would go with his children to the local ponds and streams to catch mostly Bluegill. Jerry was an active member of Brookville Presbyterian Church where he was involved with Sunday School, Worship, and the men’s weekly coffee hour. He took great delight in these connections. Above all, his greatest joy is his three children: Katie, Alison, and Frank. With exuberance, he celebrated every success and was always their biggest supporter!

In addition to his wife Judith, Jerry is survived by three children; Katie (Mark) Stahler of Glenshaw, PA, Alison (Mitchell) Peters of Cumberland, MD, and Frank (Erica) Paden of Grove City, PA; two grandchildren; William and Evelyn Stahler; one Sister Connie Kovolenko of Ambridge, PA; three nieces; one nephew; as well as many other extended family members and loved ones.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Brookville Presbyterian Church, 100 White St., Brookville, PA, from 10 – 11:30 am. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held following the visitation, beginning at 12:00 pm, and officiated by Reverend Dr. Stanley Bhasker. A light luncheon at the church will follow the service.
