Joann K. (Keihl) Dobson Obituary

Joann Keihl Dobson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the age of 91, at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital in Brookville, PA. She was born on July 25, 1933, to the late Farrell and Margaret (Baughman) Keihl at home in Stanton, PA. She attended Brookville Area High School.

On September 4, 1954, Joann married Lynn G. Dobson in Maryland. They shared over sixty-eight loving years together before he preceded her in death. Her life was marked by deep faith, creativity, and a profound love for her family.

She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joann was known for her warm heart, quick wit, and sharp mind — which she kept honed by playing countless online games of Words with Friends. An artist at heart, she found joy in quilting, sewing, and oil painting. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Joann was an active and faithful member of the Stanton Methodist Church, and her trust in God never wavered throughout her life.

A favorite place for annual family gatherings was Corolla, North Carolina, on the Outer Banks — a destination filled with laughter, love, and treasured memories. She also treasured the simple joys of home, often sitting on her porch, enjoying visits from family, neighbors and friends. Throughout her more than 30 years as Worthville Postmaster, Joann formed many valued friendships and was a beloved figure in the community.

She is survived by her two daughters; Jolynn (Michael) Cook, and Joan (Michael) Gillung, both of Worthville; five grandchildren; Cole (Carly) Cook, Aaron (Arielle) Gillung, Caitlin (Bradley) Brocious, Nicholas (Tori) Gillung, and Carlie (Jordan) Wells; and seven great-grandchildren; Addilynn Brocious, Rhett Gillung, Emilia Brocious, Camryn Cook, Griffin Wells, Oliver Wells and a new great- grandchild arriving late summer as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Joann was preceded in death by three siblings; Marjorie (Everett) Barr, Darrell (Louise) Keihl, and Bruce (Patty) Keihl. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Her presence was a blessing in the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
