Kenneth "Ken" B. Alexander Obituary
Kenneth “Ken” Alexander, age 70, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Penn Highlands Dubois. Ken was born in Brookville, PA on December 7, 1955, the son of the late Carl Donald Alexander and Bernice (Haugh) Alexander.
Ken married Susan Kay Dunn on October 27, 1995, she survives.
In 1973, Ken graduated from Clarion Limestone High School in Strattanville, PA. He entered the United States Army in 1974. Following honorable discharge, he enrolled at Clarion State College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business/Accounting. He earned his CPA following graduation.
He lived a life rich in purpose, friendship, and laughter. His professional journey reflected his deep commitment to excellence and people. Over the years, Ken worked for LTV Steel, Brockway Glass, Penn Traffic, and Riverside/Bi-Lo, where he proudly served as Chief Accounting Officer. He also shared his talents with JCAAA and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and was a respected Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Each position gave him the chance to travel, meet new people, and expand his ever-growing circle of friends. Ken also briefly taught accounting at DuBois Business College, passing on his knowledge and passion to the next generation.
Ken’s heart for community shone through his many affiliations. A former member and twice president of the Brookville Lions Club, Ken devoted time and energy to service. At Egypt Free Methodist Church (The Vision of Hope), he served faithfully as a board member, district delegate, and on the Ministerial Education and Guidance Board. When needed, Ken even stepped in to lead services as a substitute pastor. He regularly attended the Brookville Men’s Fellowship and was a former member of Roseville Church of Christ, where he served as treasurer. Ken was also active with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in Jefferson County.
Sports were one of Ken’s lifelong passions. Softball was his favorite, and he played for Crooks Softball Team, competed during his Army service, and coached his children in both baseball and softball for over 22 years, including 4 years coaching high school softball. Ken was known for his thorough knowledge of the game — he read the rule book each season and was famous for winning challenges by pulling it out mid-game when needed. In recent years, he became the loudest cheerleader for his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was also an avid fan of Penn State wrestling, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Ken took up skydiving on a dare — and it quickly became a favorite adventure. He earned his professional skydiving license and completed over 50 jumps, gifting each of his children, a chance to share that experience upon their high school graduation, (which only 2 of 6 cashed in on). He also took his wife and mother for a jump.
Ken loved the outdoors, especially hunting deer in Jefferson County and traveling to Canada in search of moose. His hunting trips were as much about friendship as sport, and his own camp in Jefferson County held a special place in his heart — complete with stories of the “buck-a-hog” and his proud “antler chandelier.” A skilled craftsman, Ken spent countless hours in his garage restoring, building, and bringing creative ideas to life.
Together with his beloved wife Susan, Ken enjoyed traveling across the U.S., making homemade wine, taking his motorcycle for rides “around the block,” and playing cards at the dinner table. He had a natural gift for storytelling, always ready with a tale that could make anyone smile.
Ken is survived by his wife, Susan; six children; Mindi (Kevin) Tucker of Arkansas, Kevin (Megan) Alexander of Brookville, PA, Mikki Valenzuela of Missouri, Megan (Will) Miller of Brookville, PA, Stacy (Brian) Fiscus of Brookville, PA, and Stefany (Mitch) Minich of Brookville, PA; nine grandchildren; Kaden Miller, Kayla Anderson, River Skalicky, Baily Miller, Keera Tucker, Raee Valenzuela, Abel Tucker, Colton Fiscus, and Colby Fiscus; two great-grandchildren: Jude; and Valerie (due in May); as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins, each of whom held a cherished place in his heart.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Mike Alexander, Jay Alexander, and Sue Miller; and son-in-law Antonio Valenzuela.
