Kimberly Leona Byerly, age 66, of Brookville, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the Shippenville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Shippenville, PA. She was born in Fort Lee, Virginia, on September 15, 1956, to the late Norman R. and Edith M. (Snyder) Byerly. Kimberly graduated from Brookville High School in 1974. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1980, and then continued to achieve her Master of Science in Library Science in 1982 from Clarion University, Clarion, PA. Through the years, Kim earned an additional twenty-three credits from Gannon University in Erie, PA. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority at Clarion University which represents an organization of sisterhood, heritage, leadership, and service.
Kimberly was a member of the Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church, Brookville, PA, and attended the Roseville Independent Chapel, Brookville, PA. She was the librarian for seven years at the Jefferson County Vocational Technical School in Reynoldsville, PA, and then worked for the Brookville Area School District as a librarian for 21 years. After 28 years in education, she retired in 2013 from Brookville Area School District. Kimberly was active in many different roles over the years. She was the Coordinator of the Children and Young Adult Services for the Jefferson County Library System and Acting County Librarian for many years. She also worked many years in the ticket box office at the Moonlite Drive-In Theatre in Brookville, PA. Her pastime activities included reading, which provided a lifetime of enjoyment for her, cross-stitching, cooking, and shopping.
Kimberly is survived by her three siblings; Karen Byerly, Karl (Marla) Byerly, and Kay Byerly all of Brookville, PA, three nephews; Jeremy, Norman, and Tommy Byerly, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm, at the Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A second viewing will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 10 – 11 am. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2023, immediately following the second viewing, and co-officiated by Reverend Mr. Loren McQueen and Pastor Jim Fillhart, at the Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
Interment will take place privately by the Carrier Funeral Home at St. John’s (Windy Hill) Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kimberly’s name to Brookville Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA 15825, or to the Roseville Independent Chapel, 3598 US-322, Brookville, PA 15825.
