Lona L. (Gensamer) Horoschuck, age 93, of Corsica, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 14, 2026. She was born in Clarion, PA, on May 25, 1932, to the late George W. and Anabelle K. (Aikens) Gensamer.

Lona graduated from Munhall Senior High School in Munhall, PA.

Lona married Arnold P. Horoschuck on May 22, 1954, in Whitaker, PA. Their marriage of over fifty years was filled with love and devotion to one another. At a young age she adopted the name “Tootsie,” and that always stuck. Lona dedicated herself to becoming a homemaker, taking great pride in her household. Her husband asked her if she wanted to work or enjoy life, so she chose the latter. She brought joy and happiness to everyone she met.

Her dear husband preceded her in death on January 17, 2004.

Lona was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Shippenville, PA, and a long-standing member of the Brookville, PA Hall as well. She spent much of her life volunteering her time to sharing the wonderful hope for the future from the bible.

Lona spent her life engaging in various hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, reading, and listening to audiobooks. Towards the end of her life, she resided with her Great-Nephew and his family. She loved to read to her great-great niece and nephew. They spent time making banana bread and doing art projects. Tootsie also loved doing puzzles and so did the kids.

Lona led a contented and fulfilling life surrounded by family and friends. Most of her life was spent living next door to different members of her family. Even when her siblings were ill, she devoted her time caring for them until she was almost 90.  She is already missed dearly by her family and friends.

She never had children of her own but treated her nieces and nephews as if they were. She was very sentimental and kept drawings and artwork that spanned decades of time.

Lona is survived by 8 nieces and nephews; Leann (Chuck) Heckman, Lisa (Keith) Welch, Marcus (Anita) Dressel, Ruth (Louis) Todd, Bob (Danielle) Gensamer, Dale (Lynne) Gensamer, Jeff Gensamer, and Lois (Thomas) Puharic.

Great-nieces and Great-nephews; Aaron (Casey) Eva, Caleb (Molly) Eva, Josh Welch, Jake (Hailey) Welch, Olivia Dressel, Elena Dressel, Angelina Dressel, Louis Todd IV, Benjamin Todd, Jeremy Todd, Laura Gensemer, Douglas (Kimberly) Puharic, Daniel (Stephanie) Puharic, David Puharic, Jaimie (Jonathan) Hanson, Kaitlyn (Robb) Jacob, and Stephanie (Scott) Johnson.

13 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; Harper, Maxwell, Jace, Theodore, Wrenley, Charlotte, Louis, Brett, Isabella, Sydnee, Emery, Haden, and Sutton.

In addition to her parents and husband Arnold, Lona was preceded in death by her siblings; George Gensamer, Audrey Dressel, and Nancy Ashcraft. Lona was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
