Mary Lou (Barber) Dezelan, age 82, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. Mary Lou was born in Export, PA, on August 24, 1943, to the late Louis and Catherine (Pangallo) Barber.

Mary Lou attended Richardsville School in Richardsville, PA, until the eighth grade and then continued her education at Brookville High School in Brookville, PA, graduating in 1962.

Mary Lou worked as a preschool teacher at the Headstart in Brookville, PA for over ten years.

Mary Lou married the love of her life, Paul Dezelan, on October 23, 1965, at the Brookville Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA; he survives. They shared a loving and joyful marriage that spanned over sixty years.

Mary Lou was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA.

Mary Lou's talent for finding joy in everyday moments was a true blessing for everyone around her. She found delight in planting flowers around her home, creating a beautiful view, and she especially loved painting pictures.

Mary Lou was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her many contributions enriched her family’s lives, and her kindness impacted countless others. Mary Lou will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will forever treasure the moments we shared together.

In addition to her husband Paul, Mary Lou is survived by one son; Jim Dezelan of Brookville, PA; one grandson; Derek (Taylor) Dezelan of Anita, PA; one great-grandson; Walker Dezelan; two brothers; Vince (Pat) Barber, and Bob (Sonja) Barber; one sister; JoAnn (Harry) Smith; and one sister-in-law; Sharon Barber. 

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by one brother; Joe Barber.

In accordance with Mary Lou and her family's wishes, all services will be held privately at the Carrier Funeral Home and will be officiated by Father William Laska.

Interment will also take place privately at the Butler Cemetery, Pine Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
