Mary Mae (Wayland) McAninch, age 93, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023, at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville, PA. She was born to the late Arthur Eugene and Helen May (Ritsky) Wayland on September 24, 1929 in Reynoldsville, PA. Mary attended and graduated from the Reynoldsville High School. She married Lawrence C. McAninch on July 18, 1954, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, PA; he preceded her in passing on April 24, 1982.
Mary worked various jobs throughout her life. She worked at Owens – Illinois in Clarion, PA, White-Brook, and Fairbrook Manufacturing in Brookville, PA, as well as Cameron Manufacturing in Reynoldsville, PA.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, the Brookville Eagles, the Brookville Fireman’s Club, the Swede Club, and the American Legion. Mary enjoyed many different activities in life. She especially loved to go out dancing. Other favorite pastime activities included bowling with friends and family, and playing bingo. Her family held a special place in her heart, and she treasured each of them.
Mary is survived by two children; Lawerence C. (Monica) McAninch Jr. of Brookville, PA, and Sandra (Terry) Campbell of Pageland, SC; four grandchildren; Kevin Windham, Terry Windham, Devin McAninch, and Adam McAninch; six great grandchildren; Natalie Windham, Zoey Cooper, Bently Henry, Carmen Windham, Kyle Windham, and Kristopher Windham; and one sister; Donna Bruce.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Mary is preceded in death by one granddaughter; Susan Windham on March 9, 2020.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 10 am – 12 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 13, 2023, beginning at 12:15 pm, and officiated by Pastor Ray Baker. Interment will take place privately by the funeral home following all funeral services at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
