Pauline K. (Shaffer) Thompson Obituary
Pauline Kay (Shaffer) Thompson, age 84, of Erie, PA, formerly of Brookville, PA, joined Jesus in heaven, June of 2026, at her home. Pauline was born in Brookville, PA, to the late Ward (Bill) and Julia (Cyphert) Shaffer. She lived in Richardsville, PA, her entire life until she and John moved to Erie in 2024.
Pauline graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville, PA, with the class of 1959. She continued to attend reunions and keep in touch with classmates until her health prevented it.
Pauline worked at Steel Electric and Montgomery Ward catalog store in Brookville, PA, for many years. She also took great pride in her role as a housewife, taking care of her home and family. Pauline was a born caregiver, who babysat her grandchildren and other children, looked after elderly neighbors, and welcomed her parents and in-laws into her home.
Pauline was married to John Thompson for almost 64 years; he survives. Their marriage was blessed with enduring love and loyalty, which they shared as a couple while building their lives and family together.
Pauline was a lifelong part of the Richardsville United Methodist Church family. Her faith and church were extremely important to her. She was the church pianist for many years and served the church and community in multiple ways, including making treats for her neighbors at Christmastime.
Pauline’s life was filled with hobbies that included 4H, cooking, making quilts, reading, crafts, and jigsaw puzzles.
Throughout her lifetime, Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, who held a special place in her heart. We will sorely miss her humor, wisdom, kindness, and how she always made holidays and birthdays so special.
In addition to her husband, John, Pauline is survived by two children; Kelly Lynn (Brent) Allred of Erie, PA, Kevin John (Angela) Thompson of Brookville, PA,; two grandchildren Johanna (Austin) Harrison of Old Fort, NC, Elijah (Camryn) Thompson of Raleigh, NC; and three great-grandchildren: Adelaide, Kathryn, and Philip.
She is further survived by siblings-in-law, several close cousins, nieces and nephews, neighbors, and many dear friends, some of them lifelong.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
