Richard M. Kennedy, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Laurelbrooke Personal Care in Brookville, PA, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in Warren, PA, on December 9, 1932, to the late George J. “Mike” Kennedy.                                                

During his high school senior year, Richard enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country as a Petty Officer Second Class from 1950 until 1954. After earning his GED, he continued his education at the University of Buffalo, NY for three years. Richard worked in hospital supplies for Baxter Sales until his retirement.  

On October 15, 1955, he married his true love, Shirley (Burns); she survives. For over sixty-eight years they remained devoted, bestowing blessings upon their union, and raising their seven children in a loving home.

Richard was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA. He was active in several local organizations including the American Legion Post 318 in Port St. Lucia, FL, Knights of Columbus, Moose Club, and a past member of the Elks Club. Richard was a dedicated golfer and enjoyed golfing at various golf courses. He continued to read avidly throughout his life. Richard and Shirley loved traveling and especially spending winters in Port St. Lucia, FL.

Richard was a devoted husband and father, helping to raise their seven children. Above all, he valued the time spent with his family.  He cherished his children and grandchildren, taking immense joy in their accomplishments.

In addition to his wife Shirley, Richard is survived by six children; Michael (Lisa) Kennedy, Kathleen (Robert) Orr, Timothy (Roxane) Kennedy, John Kennedy, Colleen (Gregory) Morgan, Joseph (Tracey) Kennedy; fourteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his son David R. Kennedy.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA, beginning at 10:00 am, and officiated by Father William Laska. 

Interment will take place privately at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
