Richard "Dick" J. Pitts Obituary

Richard “Dick” J. Pitts, age 92, of Brookville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital in DuBois, PA. Dick was born in Brookville, PA, on March 17, 1934, to the late Chauncey and Sarah (Arthurs) Pitts.


Dick graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville, PA, with the class of 1952. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1960 during the Korean War.


Dick was employed by Crawford Drilling, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and later served as District Manager for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation until his retirement.


Dick married the love of his life, Nancy (North) Pitts, on Oct. 10, 1955. She preceded him in death in December of 2012. The couple was blessed with over fifty-seven years of love and devotion, which they shared as they built their life and family together.


Dick was a member of the Brookville First Methodist Church in Brookville, PA. He was also a member of the VFW, Redlick Hunting Club, Pinecrest Country Club, Brookville Firemens Club, and past member of the Lions Club, all in Brookville, PA.


Dick was a lifelong sports enthusiast who particularly enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing in a city basketball league, and coaching Little League Baseball.


As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dick’s unconditional love and guidance leave a lasting impact on his family. He was a true mentor to many, and the legacy he leaves will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.


Dick is survived by three children; Lindsay (Doug) Hanna of Brookville, PA, Richard C. (Chrystal) Pitts of Altoona, PA, and Susan (Rodney) Osborne of Brookville, PA; five grandchildren; Allison Hanna, Ryan Hanna, Meghan Teyssier, Loeghen Pitts, and Noah Pitts; six great-grandchildren; Hanna Sullivan, Gabrielle Michelitsch, Colton Bedee, Morgan Hanna, Madison Hanna, and Sawyer Teyssier; three great-great-grandchildren; Luna, Lyla, and Raven; and one sister; Cora “Corky” Trimbur.


In addition to his parents and wife Nancy, Dick was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary.


A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at the Pinecrest Country Club, 29 W. Pinecrest Lane, Brookville, PA 15825.


Interment will take place privately at the Brookville Cemetery, Jefferson Co., PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale, Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
