Ruth M. (Smith) Leonard, 92, of East Main Street, Everett, PA; passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at home. She was born on November 12, 1931, in Clearville, PA; a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (May) Smith. On December 22, 1956, in Clearville, PA she was united in marriage to the late Harry F. Leonard, Sr.; he preceded her in death on November 26, 2019.
She is survived by her children Mary Alice Bitner, Marietta, PA and Harry F. Leonard, Jr., Everett, PA; grandchildren Allison Auchter married to Scott; Vanessa Leonard, Terry Bitner, and Garrison Leonard.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by infant son Gary Lee Leonard; sisters; Louise Williams, Betty Noble, Velma Grimes, and Wilma Cornell.
Ruth was a graduate of Everett Area High School. After high school, she went on to attend Altoona School of Commerce. Over the years Ruth worked various jobs. She worked at the Department of Transportation as a secretary; at Farm Bureau as a bookkeeper, and in her later years worked at Delicious Harvest Bakery.
She was a member of The Everett Church of the Brethren. She held the dispatching phones for Raystown Ambulance for many years in her and her husband’s home. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, crocheting, and doing puzzle books, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at The Everett Church of the Brethren with Pastor Mike Benner officiating.
Burial will be held at The Everett Cemetery.
