Susan A. (Haugh) Moore Obituary

Susan Ann (Haugh) Moore, age 82, of “Deer Lake Farm” Reynoldsville, PA died on June 4th, 2026 at DuBois Hospital. She was born on March 1, 1944 to the late Paul Howard Haugh and Mary Helen (Klepfer) Haugh in Brookville, PA. She married David A. Moore on August 21, 1961 in Allegan, MI; he survives.


Susan was the Western PA Laurel Queen in 1961. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1962 and the Jeff Tech Practical Nursing Program in 1973. Susan worked as a private duty nurse, at Maple Avenue Hospital in respiratory therapy and ended her career in the PA Memorial Home. For 30 years she was a volunteer at the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Brookville and Reynoldsville, and she personally donated six gallons of blood. Susan also was a committee woman for Boy Scout Troop 40 in Brockway and volunteered at the Jefferson Manor in Brookville.


Susan was an avid reader and always carried a book with her. For her hobbies, she enjoyed quilting and attending auctions with her mother, children and grandchildren. She also liked growing flowers and feeding birds. A life member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, she and her husband traveled in 39 states on their Gold Wing motorcycle. They enjoyed traveling all over the country and viewing scenery and wildlife. Susan also belonged to a 50 year plus couples “500” card club..


For over 50 years, Susan was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and elder. Currently, she was a member of the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church.


In addition to her husband David, Susan is survived by three children: Daniel (Brenda) Moore of Brookville, PA, Dr. Gretchen (Terry) Carlisle of Palmyra, VA, and Jennifer (Enoch) Snyder of Greenwood, VA. She had eight grandchildren: Sarah (Ross) Trinch, Lindsey (Bradley) Herron, Justin (Kelly) Moore, Jenna Moore, Vincent (Kaity) Tarrance, Cheyenne Tarrance, Anna Grace Snyder and Evans Snyder. She had six great grandchildren: Lyla and Jack Tarrance, Garrett and Brock Herron, Isla Trinch, and Margaret and Maria Moore. Also surviving is one sister, Gretchen (Hud) Gerg of Woodruff, SC, and a very dear friend Polly Plyler Johnson of Brookville, PA. Preceding her in death, besides her parents, were infant twin sisters and two brothers: Paul H. Haugh II and John Harvey Haugh.


A celebration of life will be held at Beechwoods Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverends Dave and Emily Kohler on June 20th at 11am with family and friends welcome. Interment will be private at Brookville Cemetery.


Memorials can be sent to the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church, Brookville YMCA or the Rebecca M. Arthurs Library in Brookville.
