Thomas L. Ransel, age 84, of Brookville, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023, at the Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA. He was born to the late Clyde and Margaret (Colhepp) Ransel on July 31, 1938, in Sigel, PA. Tom attended the Sigel High School and graduated with the class of 1956. After graduation, he went on to serve two years in the United States Marines before returning home. On January 6, 1958, he married his loving wife of over sixty-five years, Darlene (Asel) Ransel, at the Sigel United Methodist Church, she survives. Later in life they chose to renew their marriage vows at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Ridgeway, PA.
Tom worked for over forty-five years as a superintendent for National Fuel before he retired in 2002. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Brookville Lions Club, and volunteered helping with the Area Agency on Aging. He attended the Brookville Immaculate Conception Church, where he stayed very involved, dedicated, and faithful throughout his life. Tom was a huge classic automobile fanatic, constantly buying them and reselling them. He was a hard worker in life, always finding something to work on, and took special care when it came to things around his home. Tom loved spending time with his family, especially being able to play ball with his son. He was actively involved with his family throughout his life. He would always attend and support his children and grandchildren during any event in their lives. Above all, being with his wife and family meant more than anything to him.
In addition to his wife Darlene, Tom is survived by four children; Tammy Ransel of Punxsutawney, PA, Denise (Vic) Zents of Brookville, PA, Steve (Jill) Ransel of Brookville, PA, and Kim (John) Ent of Purcellville, VA; seven grandchildren; Stephanie (Josh) Woodin of Bridgeville, PA, Ryan (Nikki) Zents of Rural Ridge, PA, Ashely (Dominic) Bevak of Brookville, PA, Chelsie Zents of Erie, PA, Justin Ransel of Brookville, PA, David Ent of Purcellville, VA, and Brandon (Allison) Ent of Purcellville, VA; six great-grandchildren; Connor Woodin; Adeline and Leo Bevak, Rylie Woodin, Jonah Ent, and Violet Bevak.
In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by three siblings; Clyde Ransel, Bill Ransel, and Judy Minich.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at the Brookville Immaculate Conception Church, 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, PA, beginning at 10:00 am, and officiated by Father William Laska. All other services will remain private in accordance with Tom and his family's wishes. Interment will take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
